Local and Global Skeleton Fitting Techniques for Optical Motion Capture

چکیده
Identifying a precise anatomic skeleton is important in order to ensure high quality motion capture. In this paper we discuss two skeleton fitting techniques based on 3D optical marker data. First a local technique is proposed based on relative marker trajectories. Then it is compared to a global optimization of a skeleton model. Various proposals are made to handle the skin deformation problem.

Visualization of Local Movements for Optimal Marker Positioning
Motion Capture has been adopted for the production of highly realistic movements, as well as for the clinical analysis of pathological motions. In both cases, a skeleton model has to be identified to derive the joint motion. The optical technology has gained a large popularity due to the high precision of its marker position measurements. However, when it comes to building the skeleton frames o...
متن کاملMulti-Layer Skeleton Fitting for Online Human Motion Capture
This paper describes a new approach to fitting a kinematic model to human motion data which is a component of a marker-free optical human motion capture system. Efficient vision-based feature tracking and volume reconstruction by shapefrom-silhouette are applied to raw image data obtained from several synchronized cameras in realtime. The combination of both sources of information enables the a...
متن کاملAutomatic Estimation of Skeletal Motion from Optical Motion Capture Data
Utilization of motion capture techniques is becoming more popular in the pipeline of articulated character animation. Based upon captured motion data, defining accurate joints position and joints orientation for the movement of a hierarchical human-like character without using a pre-defined skeleton is still a potential concern for motion capture studio. In this paper, we present a method for a...
متن کاملFiltering and Optimization Strategies for Markerless Human Motion Capture
Since more than 2000 years, people have been interested in understanding and analyzing the movements of animals and humans which lead to the development of advanced computer systems for motion capture. Although marker-based systems for motion analysis are commercially successful, capturing the performance of a human or an animal from a multi-view video sequence without the need for markers is s...

Oceanographic images obtained from environmental satellites by a wide range of sensors allow characterizing natural phenomena through different physical measurements. For instance Sea Surface Temperature (SST) images, altimetry data and ocean color data can be used for characterizing currents and vortex structures in the ocean. The purpose of this thesis is to derive a relatively complete frame...
